Abstract
Measurements of interferons, their inhibitors and/or inactivators and tumor necrosis factor-like activities in sera from patients with neoplasias were performed. Interferon activity could not be detected in 96% of the sera samples examined. In contrast, both interferon inhibitors and/or inactivators and tumor necrosis factor-like activities were found in a high proportion (25-100%) of sera from cancer patients but not in sera from normal individuals.
