The bowel as substitute for the bladder.

The long-term results with 16 patients who underwent uretero-intestino-urethral urinary diversion are presented. We believe that with meticulous attention to the operative technique and the criteria for the operation this is a reasonable procedure for a patient undergoing cystectomy as an alternative to cutaneous or large bowel diversion of the urinary stream.
