A hospital used a specially devised but relatively simple method to monitor the levels of ethylene oxide (EO) to which employees were exposed at various locations in its central supply department. Based on the results of the tests, the hospital has taken follow-up actions to reduce EO concentrations and to initiate a multihospital testing program in its area.
