There is increasing evidence to support that temperament is an important variable in considering approaches to nursing care for the hospitalized child. Nursing admission assessment can be expanded to include temperament data from parent interviews. A number of case studies are highlighted to illustrate the relationship between temperament assessment, nursing interventions, and expected outcomes. It is recommended that pediatric nurses incorporate temperament information in all steps of the nursing process.
