Abstract
Make room for allied professionals--now. The use of nonphysicians to deliver unsupervised patient care isn't new; but many in the field expect allied health professionals to experience a renaissance under managed care. So the question is not whether but in what form that renaissance is beginning to take place. In the process, experts are looking more carefully at who does what--and why.
