Direct intradiscal instillation is a possibility to treat lumbar disc lesions. Different substances can be instillated. They are different as far as the effectivity and the side effects are concerned. Therapyresistent nerve root irritations caused by lumbar disc protrusions which generally require operative treatment, are the main indication for instillating pressureducing substances. The technic of the medial transdural injection is described. During the last 2 years 137 patients were treated with lumbar intradiscal instillation with Trasylol. This is a report of our experiences and the first results.
