Our review analyses the rationale for chemotherapy in inoperable non small cell lung cancer. We concluded that such a treatment might be beneficial in about 30% of the patients. It is however a potentially toxic approach; the inconveniences can be reduced by a close follow-up and the use of various techniques of supportive care.
