[The problems of genetic research on human oocytes and early embryos].

Main results of cytogenetic analysis of unfertilized human oocytes and early embryos obtained in programs of in vitro fertilization are presented. Some approaches in investigations of oocytes and early embryos, main chromosomal anomalies and prospects of preimplantation diagnosis of some hereditary diseases are briefly reviewed. The necessity to develop gamete and early embryo cytogenetics in Ukraine is discussed.
