Chemical burns of the eye are real preoccupying emergencies due not only to their gravity and frequent bilaterality, but also to the fact that in severe forms, there is no real treatment to restore a good visual acuity. Chemical burns are true ophthalmological emergencies because the outcome depends on the undelayed start-up of treatment.
