A total of 21 therapeutic agents reached the U.S. market for the first time in 1994, representing a continuation of the decline from the record number of 31 new therapeutic agents which were marketed in 1991. This review of the therapeutic agents first marketed in 1994 considers their most important properties. When additional information is needed, more comprehensive references and the product literature should be consulted.
