This article in the series about the dentistry of companion animals deals with feline dentistry. Odontogenesis, eruption times, and the appearance of teeth are described briefly. Certain cat-specific characteristics of the anatomical features of the teeth and periodontium are described. The shape and position of tooth elements, terminology, and modern techniques for determining the position of tooth elements are dealt with in depth. Attention is paid to the relationship between the upper and lower jaws and occlusion in cats with an abnormal bite.
