[The prosthetic care of the mandible after absolute raising of the alveolar crest by means of visor-osteotomy].

An operative method for raising the alveolar ridge of the mandible is described. In connection with vestibuloplasty and lowering of the floor of the mouth, it provides a significantly improved base for dentures without involving the risks of free bone transplantation. In prosthetic treatment the temporarily disturbed sensitivity should be borne in mind. Follow-ups repeated after short intervals are necessary. Data on long-term experience is not yet available.
