PURPOSE/METHODS: Foreign body sensation in four patients was caused by particles from a cosmetic facial scrub that contained small plastic spheres designed to abrade the skin. The particles were lodged in the superior palpebral conjunctiva 2 to 3 mm from the eyelid margin.
RESULTS/CONCLUSIONS: Removal of the particles eliminated the foreign body sensation and there were no lasting deleterious effects.
