Foot care for the diabetic patient: an overview.

Person with diabetes are at high risk for amputation. Patient education in techniques of good foot care can reduce their chance of amputation. Major principles of foot care education include examination of the feet, footwear, and hygiene of the skin and nails. This article reviews the literature regarding patient education for the diabetic patient about techniques of good foot care.
