Tube feedings have been a common nutritional support technique for decades. Enteral nutrition is safer, easier, and less costly than the alternative, parenteral nutrition. Problems do occur, such as pulmonary complications. In this review, techniques to determine the placement of nasoenteral feeding tubes are evaluated, and implications for research and practice are discussed.
