A progressive treatment protocol for maintaining tissue associated with implants.

This article presents a protocol for the management of the soft and hard tissues surrounding implant-supported prostheses. Treatment requires an evaluation of soft tissues as well as a radiographic interpretation of the hard tissues associated with peri-implant degeneration. As the degree of soft and hard tissue degeneration increases, treatment must become more aggressive. A classification is outlined for diagnostic criteria and appropriate treatment.
