[Current achievements in surgery of osteoarticular tuberculosis in children].

The paper covers the past 10 years' experience in the surgical treatment of children with various osteoarticular tuberculosis types. A total of 456 children aged 10 months to 16 years were studied. The author used a system of radical corrective and reconstructive osteoplastic operations in restrictive and disseminated diseases, which had been developed with regards for age-specific features of the abnormality. In addition to radical removal of inflammatory foci, the system provides for obligatory restoration of reconstruction of the diseased joint or spine, which has a favourable influence on the further development of a child's skeleton. Successful therapy and good functional results were achieved in 100% of children with focal bone lesions, in 98.5% of those with tuberculous spondylitis, and in 84.6% with large joint tuberculosis.
