The authors present a new intramedullary dynamic synthesis device for the internal fixation of pertrochanteric fractures. The system, known as CEB, is constituted by two elements: a flexible intramedullary nail combined with a triflanged nail that penetrates into the cervicocephalic area. The essential objectives are the rationalization and simplification of intramedullary surgical methods currently in use, and, in particular, the desire to overcome the several drawbacks encountered in use of the gamma nail. A review of the first 120 cases revealed the ease and rapidity of the assembly of the components, and the totally satisfactory clinical and radiographic results.
