Abstract

The results of two ethnographic studies of home care nurses' work experiences showed that nurses caring for patients with acquired immune deficiency syndrome encounter a variety of ethical dilemmas. Examples of patients' and nurses' dilemmas are described. Suggestions are offered for helping nurses recognize these complex situations as dilemmas and for using input from coworkers to help resolve them.
