The author singles out the problems arising when rendering emergency psychiatric care to subjects liable to autoaggressive behavior. He analyzes and classifies the clinical experience gained by physicians of a special psychiatric emergency care center of Moscow and comes to a conclusion that a physician of an ambulance team should take into consideration the clinical, social, personality, and legal factors. Possible approaches to solution of the mentioned problems are outlined: creation of a net of "critical" departments, of a centralized data bank for information about registered patients, close relationships with legal organs and social services; he emphasizes that patients examined by physicians of psychoneurological centers should by no means be left alone till transportation teams arrive.
