The questionnaire survey covered 18 families (53 subjects). After dental examination special calculations were made which demonstrate that caries intensity is directly related to daily sugar intake. The intake included also sugar provided with other foodstuffs. The least caries intensity proved in subjects whose dietary sugar intake does not exceed 30 g a day. This quantity is believed critical for caries onset.
