This short introduction describes mental health work for children and child psychiatry in Kainuu district, with its roots and its organization. The Child Psychiatric Unit is working under a slogan "The Child with its Family in its Social Network." As a part of creating functional integration in mental health work there was a beneficial project of child psychiatric consultations.
