Ada Sue Hinshaw, RN, PhD, FAAN, is the Director of the National Institute for Nursing Research of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She was the founder of the National Center for Nursing Research, the Institute's predecessor, and was named the 1993 Health Leader of the Year by the Commissioned Officers Association of the United States Public Health Service. Before her experience with the National Center for Nursing Research and with the NIH, Dr. Hinshaw worked in research in the academic and clinical settings.
