Abstract
Myocardial protection is the cornerstone of cardiac surgery especially in coronary reoperation, where the most striking problem is perioperative myocardial infarction. Use of retrograde delivery of cardioplegic solution may be preferable in coronary reoperation. Experience is described with retrograde cardioplegia in 48 reoperations for myocardial revascularization, and the advantages and limitations of this technique discussed.
