The article discusses various issues connected to the first year of trying out a system of personal general practitioners in four Norwegian municipalities. So far, the main problem had been the uneven distribution of the population between the doctors, leading to problematic differences in work load and income. Other relevant issues are related to change of one's doctor, the doctors' cooperation with other health professionals, their availability, and the population's attitude towards the system.
