An unusual occurrence of bilateral recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy as a manifestation of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is reported. Our patient met 5 of the criteria of the American Rheumatology Association for SLE: arthritis, serosal involvement, antinuclear antibodies, and hematologic and immunologic abnormalities. The laryngeal manifestations of SLE are reviewed.
