Abstract
This overview summarizes the theoretical background of alternating chemotherapy and irradiation schedules and their practical application in multimodal treatment protocols. The question whether alternating schedules provide qualitatively better tumour cell kill than individual components used sequentially or alone will only be answered by randomised clinical trials.
