Muscle (gastrocnemius) glycogen concentration was unchanged by post-hatch holding. 3. Glycogen concentration (mg/g) in the whole body was unchanged while whole body glycogen (total mg) content was decreased by holding. 4. Injections of 1 ml of 1 M L-alanine did not enhance whole body glycogen stores.
