A series of 668 operated intracranial meningiomas is retrospectively analysed with respect to operative radicality and related factors. A total and subtotal resection is reported in 75.8% of cases. Major aspects are localisation, clinical state at the time of surgery and topographical relation of tumours to major neural and vascular structures. A basic reason for incomplete operative resection of tumours we assume to be delayed diagnosis and consecutive extensive tumour growth into relevant brain areas.
