For chief nursing executives, the evaluation process for accreditation by regulatory agencies can evoke considerable anxiety. A self-evaluation tool that could prove helpful in decreasing anxiety is the mock survey which simulates the site visit process and provides standards review akin to JCAHO parameters. The primary goals of the mock survey are to educate staff, reduce anxiety, display support and provide for meeting any identified needs.
