A survey was carried out by mail in January 1993 to investigate the current trends in cataract and refractive surgery in Japan. A questionnaire was sent to members of the Japanese Intraocular Lens Implant Society, and replies were received from 59.2% prior to the cut-off date of February 15. Results were cross-analyzed and compared with the data from American and British surveys.
