Abstract

Studies were conducted on long bones from Middle Ages row cemetery in Milicz (Wrocław voivodship). Basing on measurements of trunc length in humerus, radius, ulna, femur, tibia and fibula as well as on measurements of circumferences of the truncs, simple correlation coefficients were calculated. The correlation coefficients were used to formulate regression equation permitting to reconstruct bone length from corresponding circumference in cases when epiphysis was destroyed. When applied appropriately, the method may be used to reconstruct length of long bones and the entire stature of extinct population members.
