[Successful surgical treatment of patent ductus arteriosus in adults: report of three cases].

Three elderly patients underwent surgery for patent ductus arteriosus successfully. In two patients without calcification of ductus arteriosus, its division through a left thoracotomy was performed. In another patient with massively calcified ductus arteriosus associated with pulmonary hypertension, transaortic patch-closure of the aortic end of the ductus arteriosus was performed under partial cardiopulmonary bypass. All three patients and uneventful postoperative course.
