Pesticides are very important in plant protection. They are almost ubiquitary and even the rivers and lakes are contaminated. Chlorinated insecticides and PCB were regularly found in the Lake of Constance, and in the Rhine river as well as in dredger-lakes and fishing water. DDT has lost the importance of earlier years, whereas HCB and PCB is increasing.
