Abstract

Gangrene developed in a long segment of the small bowel in an 18-month-old child with acute iron poisoning; this was manifested radiographically as localized pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis. The authors emphasize the importance of abdominal radiography during the first stage of iron poisoning.
