[Value of irradiation of neck nodes metastases. Part II. Elective treatment].

This is the analysis of 151 NO-stage patients with squamous cell carcinoma of supraglottic larynx (110 cases), tonsil (19 cases) and base of tongue (22 cases) treated with definitive irradiation between 1970-1981. In the great majority of patients elective irradiation to upper and midjugular neck nodes was given. Orthovoltage irradiation received 74 patients, Co-60--77 patients. Analysis of failures showed high effectiveness of elective neck nodes irradiation. Neck nodes failures with primary controlled have been observed in 4% of patients outside limits of irradiation field. Indications to elective treatment are discussed.
