In search of the behavioral phenotype: a methodological note.

Recent advances in recombinant DNA studies have been productive in identifying specific genetic loci for several disorders believed to be associated with mental retardation. In this paper the methodology of many such studies was criticized as failing to demonstrate an association between the behavior phenotype and the genetic marker. A more appropriate methodology using a multitrait-multimethod approach was suggested.
