Prenatal fluoridation. A literature review.

The anticariogenic effect of fluoride is well established. During the past 40 years, numerous papers have been published verifying the efficacy of fluoride in the reduction of dental caries postnatally. The benefit of fluoride during pregnancy, however, has been seriously questioned. The following is a review of the literature relevant to prenatal fluoridation.
