Five pregnant women whose pregnancies were complicated only by essential hypertension had significantly elevated platelet cytosolic calcium levels as compared with those of their normotensive counterparts. There seems to be an association between platelet cytosolic calcium level and arterial blood pressure that has previously been described in both nonpregnant and preeclamptic women.
