Starting a hospital-based home health agency: Part I. The service and its environment.

Alternative care services and delivery options can improve quality, access and institutional viability. When properly implemented, home healthcare--an important link in the continuum of the healthcare delivery system--provides this service. Part I of this three-part series describes the research, review and beginning implementation, defines populations, and evaluates environmental assessments which set the foundation to establish a hospital-based agency.
