[Disability and damage of integrity].

A Swiss ophthalmologist should at minimum be aware, that, according to insurance law, these two technical terms are not identical. Some details of legal principles have to be known if being an expert for insurance or court of justice. Damage of integrity is related to the immaterial, permanent and significant reduction in physical or mental integrity, whereas invalidity relates exclusively to economic damage as a consequence of a permanent or temporary reduction of income due to accident or occupational disease; as a consequence the level of any invalidity pension is not directly related to the medically defined damage of integrity.
