[Thirty year experience in cryotherapy of viral ulcerations of cornea].

After the discussion of the advantages of the low temperature application in viral ulcerations of cornea, the results of the cryotherapy in 1200 patients are presented. The average period of treatment of the viral ulcerations, with no involvement of corneal stroma, was 2.9 days, whereas with the involvement 9.2 days. The recurrent viral ulceration was observed in 6.2% of the patients but the re-application of the cryotherapy always resulted in recovery.
