The frequency and severity of residual phenomena after viral meningoencephalitis is to large degree determined by the premorbid background, etiology, severity of the acute period of the disease hospitalization terms. Among the residual phenomena functional disorders are more frequent while organic are rare and regress within 1.5-2 years. Complete cure of the patients should therefore be 1.5-2 years after discharge from the hospital.
病毒性脑膜脑炎后残留现象的频率和严重程度在很大程度上取决于病前背景、病因、疾病急性期的严重程度、住院时间。在残留现象中，功能障碍更为常见，而器质性障碍则很少见，且在1.5至2年内消退。因此，患者应在出院后1.5至2年才能完全治愈。
