Although often considered to be a relatively new subdivision of neurology, behavioral studies actually have a long and colorful history. The events that led originally to a consideration of behavior as a neurologic subspecialty are outlined, followed by a listing of some of the major occurrences and key figures that have produced the considerable growth of behavioral neurology over the past two decades.
