Abstract
United States Government regulations cover industrial, medical and consumer ultrasound products for the protection of those using the equipment. There are currently five government agencies which regulate permissible power, intensity and radiation field patterns; permissible frequency and power bands; safety standards for the protection of consumers using ultrasound devices; safety and design standards for diagnosis and therapy by physicians; and standards for the protection of workers in factories using ultrasonic equipment.
