The clinical application and technique of the BCR are described in detail. The reflex was checked in 100 urological patients with normal neurologic status employing the Bors method and the catheter method (i.e. by pulling suddenly on the indwelling catheter). A significant discrepancy in the reflex response was noted. With the first method a high percentage of false-negative results was obtained in comparison with the catheter method. This latter technique is therefore to be preferred for neurologic-urologic examination. The possibillty of a special form of lower neuron lesion, caused by microangiopathic degeneration of the neuron, is discussed.
