Recent data about the molecular structure and functional properties of G-proteins as well as evidence about its influence on the regulation of biochemical and molecular genetic processes in different cells are presented. The alteration of G-proteins activity is shown to take place both when affected by uncovalent modulators and as a result of covalent modification to phosphorylation or ADP-ribosylation with bacterial toxins.
