This is a report of 58 pat. with osteoarthritis of the hip who underwent angiography. Two patients with pegmented villonodular synovitis were among this group (Maurer, Hald and Odegaard). 2. There was a female over male predominance of 3.5 to 1. 3. Beyond the age of 53 all patients showed signs of arteriosclerotic changes, frequently with an occlusion of the R. profundus a. circumflexa femoris med. which supplies the femoral head. 4. The significance of angiography with regard to prognosis and eventual treatment is being discussed. 5. Possible causes are being debated.
