The challenges that multiple personality poses to legal concepts are discussed. They include issues such as consent, competency to stand trial and to testify, defence, criminal responsibility and capacity. The author concludes that the law is based on the idea of a person as a unity and that a person must take responsibility for his or her sub-personalities.
