The purpose of this study was the examination of 60 children with Down's syndrome with particular attention paid to the organ of hearing. The investigation included anamnesis concerning the risk factors of hearing loss, psychomotoric development, otolaryngological examination, pure tone, impedance and speech audiometry. The main conclusion is: hearing impairment is more frequent in children with Down's syndrome (82.8%) than in normal population (0.5-2%). The type of hearing impairment is mainly conductive and mild degree.
